First, ask the state agency how long it has offered human services and other aid to parents, children, and individuals who cannot pay for them. If they have been in operation for several years, then they should have agents who are familiar with programs that can help you get the workfare, vaccines, immunization, emergency health care, injury prevention, and other public aid services that you need. Ask them if they have access to a laboratory with the testing equipment that you need to be sure you get the life saving care you need.
